WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN TOTAL FOCUS?
Zynamite®: 200 mg
Zynamite® is Nektium’s patent-pending proprietary Mangifera indica extract standardized to ≥ 60% mangiferin. Mangifera indica, the common mango tree, is cultivated extensively in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Infusions and decoctions of mango leaves are used extensively in traditional health systems and have been known for centuries for their health benefits.
Zynamite® activates brain waves and increases Long Term Potentiation in a remarkably similar pattern to caffeine. While caffeine antagonizes adenosine receptors, Zynamite® acts non-selectively to stimulate brain activity. The key active, mangiferin acts non-selectively to modulate multiple physiological and CNS targets.Intriguingly, in vivo studies of Zynamite® have pointed to the potential for synergies between Zynamite® and low doses of caffeine, suggesting that formulations that combine these ingredients will be attractive to consumers.
PurCaf® Organic Caffeine: 50 mg Nearly all caffeine found in traditional supplements is manufactured with syntethic, lab-made caffeine. In Total FOCUS, we have used PurCaf instead. PurCaf® is the ONLY trademarked organic caffeine formula and is 100% organic, gluten free, chemical free, and vegetarian-friendly. PurCaf® is non-GMO and one of the only GRAS caffeine sources in the industry today for safe use. Each serving of TOTAL FOCUS contains 50 mg of pure organic caffeine that is water extracted from green (unroasted) coffee beans to give you a pure, clean rush of caffeine to help ramp up your energy levels and supercharge your levels of focus.
Rhodiola Rosea (3% Rosavins) 200 mg Rhodiola rosea is a herb in the rhodiola genera (Crassulaceae family) which has traditional usage as an anti-fatigue agent. Rhodiola appears to be able to significantly reduce the effects of prolonged and minor physical exhaustion that results in fatigue. This is more related to stress and the 'burnout' effect, or prolonged but low intensity physical exercise. The Rhodiola used in TOTAL FOCUS was produced by Nektium, one of the world's leading ingredient manufacturers of high-quality Rhodiola Rosea extracts. Nektium is one of a few select companies that are authorized by a special permit issued by the Russian Government to export Rhodiola Rosea from the pristine Altai Mountains in Siberia.
IS TOTAL FOCUS SAFE?
Every batch of TOTAL FOCUS is manufactured, sealed, and packaged at our cGMP & FDA REGISTERED partner facility in Texas, USA. Each batch is only released after passing purity testing passing all microbial, heavy metal, and spec.
When it comes to capsules, companies have two main choices: a gelatin or a veggie capsule. Gelatin capsules are made of gelatin, which is an animal by-product formed from collagen, often from the hooves, bones, and connective tissue of pigs and cows. AZOTH® uses vegetable capsules, which are derived from a plant by-product called cellulose. Vegetable capsules can be used by those following a strict vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.
WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND TOTAL FOCUS?
The last time we came out with a product was in 2017, three years ago. So, when we make a product, we mean business. We have a simple mission: Help people get more sh*t done. AZOTH 2.0 was the staple to accomplishing that, but for those who want to take their focus to the next level, TOTAL FOCUS will be an untouchable add-on.
When looking for focus supplements, consumers have had to choose either for shots and drinks which are filled with harmful ingredients, cause jitters, headaches, and other side-effects or for healthier alternatives which are so watered down, that they don’t do anything. TOTAL FOCUS is the result of a five year long global research quest for the next-generation mental & physical energy ingredient that delivers on effectiveness and health.
In America alone, 400 million cups of coffee are consumed per day. It should not come to any surprise that the $122B supplement industry has been using caffeine heavily in their products and has been working overtime to find a powerful replacement for the drug.
Four years ago, after noting the worrying global trend of increasing adverse reactions from excessive consumption of highly caffeinated products, Nektium's R&D and innovation team began a global search for a safe and effective ingredient that could not only replace caffeine, but be superior to caffeine.
The challenge? A research imperative to find rapidly acting botanical extract with nootropic and sports performance activities, free of cardiovascular and other side-effects, and without addictive and tolerance potential.
Nektium's research team was led by Dr. Nigel Gericke, and involved extensive reviews of the international ethnobotanical literature, of the uses of plants in the traditions of Ayurvedic Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and reviews of Nektium's own ethnobotanical records from European, Russian, Amazonian, and African plants.
The result: Zynamite, a specialized extract from Mango Leaves which notably showed precisely but remarkably similar activation activity to caffeine in studies of brain electrical activity, with one caveat: it acts selectively.
While caffeine antagonizes adenosine receptors, Zynamite acts non-selectively to stimulate brain activity. The key active, mangiferin acts non-selectively to modulate multiple physiological and CNS targets.
What does this mean? Simple: while Zynamite can increase levelf of mental energy, cognition, and concentration, it may do so without increasing levels of cortisol - which then equates to fewer (if any) side effects usually caused by caffeine.
This hypothesis was rigorously tested.
The Studies: Zynamite Delivers Zynamite has been studied in 4 randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials - 2 for mental energy and 2 for sports performance.
In the first study, twelve physically active young men took a combination of 140mg Zynamite® + 50mg luteolin every 8 hours, and after 48 hours, they performed repeated bicycle ergometer Wingate sprint tests. Mean power output was increased by 5–7% compared with placebo (Figure 1).
In a follow-up confirmatory study, 30 young athletes (13 women and 17 men), 140mg of Zynamite was administered every 8 hours for 48 hours, but this time in two separate combinations: 50mg luteolin and 600mg quercetin.
The combination of Zynamite pre workout capsules with quercetin increased peak power output by 19.4% compared to placebo. Both formulations increased mean power output by 6% during repeated ergometer Wingate tests. Zynamite® improved VO2 peak by 5%, with a corresponding increase in brain oxygenation of 10–12% in women.⁷ (Figure 2)
The results from these two studies demonstrated that formulations containing Zynamite have an even stronger effect than those published for caffeine, in addition to a significant improvement in peak power output.
Zynamite's Effects on Mental Energy The next two studies focused on mental energy. The first used a single dose of 500mg of in 16 participants (7 men and 9 women).
The study showed that Zynamite significantly reduced fatigue after only 1.5 hours, analyzed with the Profile of Mood States questionnaire (POMS). Zynamite reduced stress during the Calculation Performance Tests, evidenced by Galvanic skin response. (Figure 3) Zynamite had no side effects and no change in heart rate variability or blood pressure over the course of the study-variables typically affected by caffeinated products.
During performance of two cognitively demanding challenges, a Number Sequence Test (NST) and a Number Connection Test (NCT), Zynamite® had a significant activating effect on the brain compared to placebo as determined by frequency analysis of the changes in electrical activity across six brain wave frequency ranges (colour coded) in the EEG of the association cortex (change from time-averaged baseline assigned as 100%) ; significance values: ** p<0.05, *** p<0.001. (Figure 4)
In a nutshell, what the team at Nektium was able to accomplish - was to finally decrease the dillemma of sacrificing health and levels of well-being for temporary increases in focus and energy. This is truly groundbreaking.
This is why, Zynamite has won the 𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐑𝐀 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝗪𝐀𝐑𝐃 in both 2018, and 2019 and awarded the Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award in 2019 and holds over 𝟒 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, and has been tested in over 𝟕 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 and included as scientific evidence in over 𝟓 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
AZOTH & ZYNAMITE Last month, AZOTH LLC became the first supplement company to directly source and distribute Zynamite in North America in its product, TOTAL FOCUS which futher includes PurCaf, and a clinical dose of Rhodiola Rosea.
The Zynamite found AZOTH is batch tested, tested for purity, metals, and the purest form of Zynamite in the industry.
Users of Total Focus can expect intense levels of deep focus, prolonged energy, and maximum concentration unlike everything ever made available in the supplement industry.
In 2017, we pioneered AZOTH 2.0 and took the industry by storm. In 2020, we pioneered TOTAL FOCUS and are once again re-affirming our commitment for total human productivity.
Strength and Honor, -Team AZOTH
A KEALAD WORD ON TOTAL FOCUS:
This product is another perfect example of how the guys at Azoth truly understand what a person wants in a supplement. It's simple. No unncessary ingredients. And it does the job it claims to do.
In my experience, it has always been a pleasant surprise just how effective this one capsule formula can be.
This was also extremely evident in their Total Nootropic stack, which has by far received the most enthusiastic praise out of any supplement we've stocked. That didn't come easy though, Azoth formulas are developed over dozens of iterations. They aren't some run of the mill generic "nootropic formula" prescribed from a manufacturer - these are custom built with love. But the other key point, Prady, the CEO of Azoth is meticulous about quality. I know he has gone to hell and back for his products. Total Nootropic proved the value of that effort, and I'm sure the same will be said for Total Focus as more of us Kiwi's get the Total Focus experience.
But on the ingredients themselves:
Those of you that chat with me frequently or follow VitaKea on social will know that I am a big advocate for Rhodiola Rosea, but less known is that I began experimenting with Zynamite back in mid 2019. As a COMT inhibitor, it can be a great stacker with caffeine, and really extends out the energy, without over-peaking and turning me into a jittery mess of a human. But frankly that's as far as I had taken Zynamite... until I got wind of the Total Focus product brewing. Since that fateful day, the Zynamite & Rhodiola combo has D.I.Y. stacked its way along with many a stimulant. By now I can confidently confirm, complimentary mechanisms don't get better than this. And top it off, Total Focus has performed better than any DIY stack I've ever done.
Many may know that Rhodiola is a MAO B inhibitor, so when you pair that alongside Zynamite's COMT inhibiton (covering the two main catecholamine metabolic pathways in the brain) - in theory we will get absolute bang for buck from any caffeine. Keeping the catecholamines (dopamine, adrenaline, nor-adrenaline) around for longer, allowing you to reap maximum value. And from experience, I've found that theory holds up spectacularly.
As usual, if you are keen to try before you buy - feel free to request a sample with any order you make. I'll happily throw in a couple caps! 💊💊 Then you can see for yourself that the hype is not misled and understand truly why Total Focus is one of my very favourite supplements in the VitaKea Store.
- Sincerely, Your KeaLad, Thomas (VitaKea Caretaker)🌿
Brain Gains: Nootropic Brain Fuel
SWITCH ON with Nootropic Brain Fuel.
Brain Gains is the ultimate Caffeine Free, Zero Sugar mind-boosting energy supplement that can be taken throughout the day to boost productivity, physical performance, energy and focus... without the Caffeine Crash!
Packing a whole lot of action, Brain Gains is certainly a complex formula...but boy do you get gram-for-gram value! The end result? A true stack of Nootropic Brain Fuel that synergises for excellent performance.
40 scoops per tub. 0% Sugar, Caffeine Free, No Jitters, No Crash. FOUR Flavours.... which will you choose?
The STACK3D Review
"Brain Gains Nootropic Brain Fuel is one of the best focus products we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing. Not only does it very noticeably work, but it comes through with a complete focus experience like no other. It elevates your mental game better than almost every other competitor in the category and is well worth picking up."
As you can see above, most of the nootropic dosages are quite generous, and it is for this reason that the VitaKea Team would recommend using only one scoop at a time. Best enjoyed with ~350ml water + ice. It won't keep you up at night, so afternoon usage is fine, though for maximal gains, sip on it sometime in the morning. Not about that luxurious water and ice life? Well rest assured... Brain Gains is dry-scoop-to-the-dome approved by Lloyd @thecavenutritionstore! 🤣 Flavour wise, Mango, Watermelon and Strawberry Kiwi are all absolutely stellar.
On the One or Two scoop debate: From our own usage we find that the noticeablecognitive value seems to be nearly equal when we supplement a single scoop as opposed to two, and this way you'll get more Gains for your dollar... doubling the number of servings per tub (20 serves @2Scoops; 40 Serves @1Scoop). IF you are really keen to take it up a notch, you can also try splitting your servings across the day. Eg. One in the morning, One in the afternoon. And as per usual, remember that you are a unique human being, with any supplement we recommend you experiment to find your own personal sweet spot dosage and go with that!
Want to try-before-you-buy?We're always happy to send a sample out with any order, so just leave a comment in your order notes and we'll sling one in for you!
If you have any questions at all, or would like some links to resources to learn more about the ingredients, just shoot us a question via the submit form below, or send an email directly to yours truly at: email@example.com. Note in advance... I bloody love this supplement, so brace yourself for excitement! 🤓

Support your Energy and ATP synthesis!
What exactly goes into the ATP ENER-G formula? Primal Herb has chosen each fungi and herbal extract for its proven effectiveness, safety, research, and historical use.*
CORDYCEPS:For strong ATP and mitochondrial support that gives this formula its primary energy punch. Cordyceps boasts the strongest research for ATP-boosting abilities, so we had to include it as ATP ENER-G’s principal actor.
Prepare for antioxidant protection, increased metabolism, stronger physical performance, and better energy endurance (and less fatigue) than ever before—along with some immune protection and mood-improving qualities to boot.
SIBERIAN ELEUTHERO:Eleuthero comes in next as ATP ENER-G’s second-in-command re-energizer. While research hasn’t yet established a solid connection between this ginseng-like herb and ATP activation, it nonetheless has a reputation for stellar research on its ability to pull up energy by its bootstraps.
With our inclusion of eleuthero in the mix, energy levels will not only be better, but they’re scientifically proven to last longer with the help of this Asian remedy.
CISTANCHE:Eleuthero and cordyceps will help pump up physical energy, while cistanche makes sure that mental energy levels are running high as well. If forgetfulness, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and even mood imbalance are all connected to low energy issues, this desert adaptogen can give the body a pick-me-up.
Studies also show that it gets to the heart of energy issues, helping reignite floundering mitochondria and ATP function.
GREEN TEA EXTRACT:Finally, we have the inclusion of green tea extract because of its rich catechin content. Even better, Primal Herb has ensured that the most powerful, well-studied catechin is extracted into the blend for the best energy revitalization of all: epigallocathecin gallate, or EGCg.
This guarantees that the green tea brought into the mix will be chock-full of the very best antioxidants and metabolism-boosters to keep energy high, protect DNA and mitochondria, help reduce free radical damage. To put an end to feeling like the tank is “always empty.”
ATP ENER-G also includes piperine, the active alkaloid chemical found in the rinds of black pepper fruits (or corns). This compound immediately increases the bioavailability of all other powerful plant compounds added to this blend – so you can really feel the difference!*
No Fillers, No Dying Agents, No Additives, Just 100% Pure Extracts.
HOW AND WHEN TO USE ATP ENER-G?
Add to hot water, coffee, tea, or smoothie... or even integrate into some food dishes!
ATP Ener-G can be taken day or night – with or without food. :)
ATP ENER-G: RESTORE AND RE-ENERGIZE
Having low energy is one thing. Getting back into an energizing routine—when there’s no energy, to begin with to get the ball rolling again—is another struggle altogether.
We’ve heard it all: just exercise, eat better, work less, play more. But sometimes, that just isn’t enough to get out of the rut we’re in.
Not to mention, we might not have all the above options available to us, either. Some of us are tied to intense 9-to-5 schedules or ambitious agendas that tap us of all our energy. Either way, it’s hard to take the time out for re-energizing self-care.
But with the help of some targeted herbs, taking that first step towards better energy can be much easier and more achievable.
THE BASICS OF ENERGY (AND WHY WE LOSE IT)
The reasons why we experience low energy can be many. Issues like low immunity, stress or depression, anxiety, and countless other problems all contribute to sluggishness, mental apathy, and brain fog.
But the way we each create, store, and use (or lose) energy is actually the same at the foundations. It doesn’t matter if we’re simply experiencing burnout or struggling with a major imbalance or disease.
What energy usage and storage all comes down to: DNA and mitochondria. Both live in each and every one of our cells, and are instrumental to releasing practically 90% of the energy we release: 15 times more than what is released from blood sugar processing in our blood alone, according to Molecular Biology of the Cell in 2002.
This means that, in addition to a more energetic lifestyle and diet, there is something much deeper down we need to take care of beyond all this—and a whole other level of health we must focus on to get our energy back.
FREE RADICAL DAMAGE & ATP
To understand energy and where it comes from, we need a bit of basic science.
First off: mitochondria are basically organelles found within each of our cells. Each of them contain and create DNA. They’re also responsible for a huge portion of energy synthesis through transporting and creating ATP (short for adenosine triphosphate).
It’s through our DNA and ATP that most of our energy is released. And yet, if this microscopic part of our body begins to struggle, low energy can be a problem that follows. And what is the greatest threat to our DNA? Free radical damage—a process resulting from chronic inflammation caused by poor diet, illnesses, and much more.
PROTECT ENERGY WITH ANTIOXIDANT, ADAPTOGENIC HERBS
Getting energy back can involve managing our illnesses better, and by not letting stress run our lives. Eating antioxidant-rich foods high in vitamin A and C can be a boost too.
And of course, eating better, cutting out harmful foods and substances, and exercising more are incredibly valuable to sustained, daily energy. No matter your condition, prioritising these should be the first steps. This said, It can be hard. Actually, it can be incredibly hard to get the momentum rolling when you try to change your lifestyles so profoundly.
That’s why, beyond all this, we can call on extra help from incredibly antioxidant-rich, adaptogenic botanicals if (and when) we find ourselves needing it when our tanks are completely empty.
Traditional cultures have turned to the use of herbs and fungi to restore low energy due to all sorts of imbalances for thousands of years. Today, science and research support many of these—and Primal Herb has picked the most well-researched, time-tested herbs to put in our own energy-boosting formula.
Cordyceps is a unique fungus that grows not from the ground, or even from a tree—but from live insects! This has won the mushroom the name “caterpillar fungus.” In Asia, it was revered as a sacred medicine for restoring health, and the strangeness of how it grows certainly shrouded it in mystery.
Such a reputation has drawn a lot of scientific research to it, exploring what (and how) exactly cordyceps could make people so healthy. As it turns out, its biggest claim to fame is helping bolster the body’s energy stores. No doubt it accomplishes this as an antioxidant adaptogen that acts on metabolism.
A recent 2012 study found that the polysaccharides from cordyceps mycelium (like that found in our formula) helps reduce the chances of fatigue and raise energy in mice. Another study only 2 years earlier found that older subjects had much better energy levels taking cordyceps than if they had just taken a placebo.
Perhaps most directly of all,a 2015 research article directly connected cordyceps to increased production of ATP in the body. No matter the cause for low energy, cordyceps is a top choice among all botanicals to cut straight to the core of fatigue and sluggishness issues.
Among herbs renowned for boosting energy, eleuthero doesn’t trail too far behind the previous. Just like cordyceps, it is also a well-known protective adaptogen that boosts energy, increases endurance, improves physical well-being, and even reduces tiredness.
For those suffering from low energy resulting from any sort of imbalance or illness, eleuthero can help, especially where work and physical demand is concerned. A 2010 eight-week long study demonstrated that eleuthero could indeed boost energy, improve metabolism, and also helped people sustain energy levels for longer than usual.
Just like with cordyceps, it is supposed that these effects are due to its very antioxidant, free radical-protectant nature as an adaptogen.
CISTANCHE (CISTANCHE TUBULOSA)
A lesser-known adaptogen from the Asian continent, cistanche is nevertheless a powerful, provocative herb that has garnered quite a bit of attention in recent years. While it does draw some similarities to eleuthero and cordyceps in terms of energy-boosting, it does seem to have a bit of a different focus: it boosts energy in the mind.
A very recent 2016 review showed that fatigued mice, with the help of cistanche, could learn quicker, forget less, and navigate much more rapidly through complex issues than those who didn’t take cistanche. Some of these mice even out-performed those that took a pharmaceutical mental energy booster!
Of note too: cistanche was listed as one of many yang tonic herbs known to enhance mitochondrial ATP energy creationin a 2011 research article. We know that lack of physical energy can really tap us out. But for those of us who can attest to mental fatigue, cistanche may be just the perfect herb for the problem.
GREEN TEA (CAMELLIA SINENSIS)
For those hungering for an antioxidant-rich herbal supplement in their lives, green tea has long been a popular standby. There are plentiful studies demonstrating that this beverage—one of the world’s most popular beverages of all time—is a highly protective antioxidant that can also get metabolism running powerfully again.
Studies have shown that green tea’s catechins (antioxidant phenols) also have stimulating effects on energy in the body. A 2010 review of green tea research found that catechins have a way of revving up metabolism—which doesn’t just increase energy levels, but also encourages the body to lose fat and maintain a normal, healthy weight.

This amino acid is a forerunner of two of the most important neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine. It enhances working memory and executive function through chemical signalers in the prefrontal cortex. A quintessential limitless nootropic, it can increase focus, internalized motivation, boost inspiration of creative flow, and enhance a state of wellbeing through cortisol reduction.†
Alpha-GPC 50% (Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine):
Derived originally from lecithin, L-Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine (αGPC, choline alfoscerate) is a phospholipid metabolite found in neuronal membranes. Unlike other forms such as Choline Bitartrate, Alpha GPC is the most superior precursor to acetylcholine has been shown to be well absorbed, easily crossing the blood-brain barrier to support the synthesis and emission of Acetylcholine. Enhanced acetylcholine levels have been linked to sharper memory, mental drive, focus and lucid REM sleep states.†
A mood-boosting nootropic that has favored effects on focus, mental drive, anxiety and depression reduction without inducing drowsiness. Some of L-Theanine’s most powerful mental effects are created by limiting the neurochemicals which can contribute to stress reactions and mental clarity reduction. By calming these over-stimulating chemicals, L-Theanine benefits can promote feelings of relaxation, tranquility and a zen-like wellbeing. So even as the caffeine in skywalk packs a smooth punch, L-theanine cushions it by relaxing and calming the mind. – Truly a perfect balance of ying-yang.†
RealCaf ™ (Caffeine from Green Coffee Beans):
Caffeine is a stimulant xanthine alkaloid compound. By this property it does not technically qualify under the definition of a nootropic, but it has been extensively documented to improve mental performance. This widely used compound works by targeting chemical receptor sites located in the brain stimulating the central nervous system. By this stimulation, the release of key neurotransmitters such as dopamine are increased, which is a powerful brain chemical that activates pleasure centers within the brain. The dopaminergic activity of caffeine is a key reason why you attain concentration, and a feeling of wellbeing. The benefit using our RealCaf ™ (non-gmo natural caffeine) opposed to the industry standard of the notorious ‘crappy caffeine anhydrous’ is that the separation process is a more clean, gentle and has been reported by many users that it possesses a “smoother feel” compared to caffeine anhydrous. Do yourself a favor and see how much better you feel on RealCaf ™ - You will become a fan.†
Velvet Bean Extract (Mucuna Pruriens):
Velvet Bean has been long studied and has been shown to increase levels of adrenergic hormones Norepinephrine and Epinephrine, which are responsible for numerous effects such as motor control, immune function, energy levels and even healthier sleep cycles when in a sleep state. As a nootropic, Velvet Bean is used to combat anxiety and depression while enhancing concentration, focus and mood.†
Supporting the release of powerful neurotransmitters that support the elevation of mental energy, mood and focus, hordenine is truly a synergist when it came to formulating the Skywalk™ formula! Hordenine is also able to cross the blood brain barrier where it can act as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO) via attaching to certain receptor sites in the brain. By this function it is able to help prevent loss of focus, crashing energy levels and also stress.†
By stimulating the release of Norardrenaline, a neurotransmitter involved in the ‘flight or fight’ response, which in turn will enhance focus and have a mild stimulating effect. N-Methyltyramine (NMT) can also increase the activity of dopaminergic, adrenergic and serotonergic neurotransmitters, which can play a role in mental energy, mood and contribute antidepressant-like effects.†
Huperzia Serrata (as Huperzine A):
Huperzine A is the active compound found in a species of fir clubmoss (Huperzia Serrata). This compound has a powerful inhibitory effect on acetylcholinesterase (AchE), an enzyme responsible for degrading the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (Ach) thus boosting acetylcholine levels and preventing oxidative stress in cholinergic neurons. The action of this herbal extract can contribute to learning, memory, and reduce impairments associated with neurological disease.†
B6 (as Pyridoxal-5’-Phosphate [P5P]:
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is absolutely critical for brain function. Unfortunately it is poorly assimilated, and for this reason we utilized the most novel form of B6 called ‘Pyridoxal Phosphate’ (P5P) because it is the most active form in the body. This super-co-factor is utilized in energy metabolism processes in your cells as well as in the synthesis of several different neurotransmitters such as Acetylcholine, dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and Melatonin. These chemicals carry signals from one neuron to another, igniting our thoughts, memory encoding, information consolidation, focus, feelings, and both conscious and unconscious movements. Low levels of B6 in the body can lead to decreased cognitive ability, lack of focus, low energy, and brain tissue shrinkage, which can even lead to Alzheimer’s. Attaining adequate amounts of b6 from diet or supplementation can help boost communication between brain cells and even prevent certain types of neuron damage due to aging.†
B12 (as Methylcobalamin):
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is a water-soluble vitamin, which has a key role in the normal functioning of the brain, nervous system, formulation of blood, and the metabolism of every cell in the human body. However, not all cobalamins are equal in effectiveness and because of this fact, we had to utilized the most active form of B12 known as methylcobalamin. The nootropic benefits from this novel co-factor range from neuron development and maintenance as well as cognitive processes related to memory, learning, attention span and overall alertness. This compound can also rebuild damaged nerves and contributes to the maintenance of function that is normally decayed during the aging process.†
Derived from peppercorns from Piper Nigrum Plants, Bioperine® is a patented extract that is used as a bioavailability enhancer of numerous nutrients via stimulation of the digestive tract.†

Extra"Switch Off" with BLACK Edition
***Just landed in stock - available now!***
The Brain Gains Nootropic Sleep Aid Black Edition is a Non-Habit forming, Sedative Free… Nootropic Sleep Aid!
It takes all the great points from the original formula and cranks it up with a few worthy additions: 5-HTP, Mangolia Officinalis and Melissa Officinalis. The Nootropic Sleep Aid helps you refuel and repair whilst sleeping in preparation for the following day by ensuring your brain and body stays topped up with what it needs to perform at optimum levels.
5-HTP is a direct natural precursor to serotonin. Serotonin can be converted into the hormone melatonin. These two hormones play and important role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Supplementing 5-HTP may reduce the time it takes to fall asleep, increase sleep duration and improve sleep quality.
Magnolia Officinalis (aka. Magnolia Bark)
Magnolia Bark, also known as Magnolia Officinalis, is natural compound used in traditional Chinese practices and known for its ability to support healthy sleep habits and its relaxation properties. This natural bark extract may boost GABA and lower levels of adrenaline and cortisol. It might improve sleep by increasing the time you spend in REM and NREM sleep and reducing time to fall asleep. It has also been studied to reduce anxiety and improve mood.
Melissa Officinalis (aka. Lemon Balm)
Commonly known as Lemon Balm, Melissa Officinalis is an ingredient that has been popular historically as a sleep aid, with known use cases in Greece dating before 146BC. Most Lemon Balm benefits are also attributed to its GABA system interactions. Rather than using a GABA supplement, lemon balm extract regulates a compound that blocks GABA known as GABA transaminase, helping to relax the brain before sleep to support relaxation and sleep promotion.
Increased "Switch Off"
Together with the standard formula, these ingredients will further help you get into a more relaxed state so that you can switch off busy thoughts, fall asleep quicker and get a better quality and longer duration of overall sleep. Not only does the Nootropic Sleep Aid improve your sleep, but it also has the ability to improve brain functions such as memory, creativity and motivation. Compounds such as Bacopa, Lions Mane and Phosphatidylserine are known to be valuable nootropics that improve cognitive function and long term brain health.
One of the most valuable skills in our economy is becoming increasingly rare. If you master this skill, you'll achieve extraordinary results.
Deep work is the ability to focus without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. It's a skill that allows you to quickly master complicated information and produce better results in less time. Deep work will make you better at what you do and provide the sense of true fulfillment that comes from craftsmanship. In short, deep work is like a super power in our increasingly competitive twenty-first century economy. And yet, most people have lost the ability to go deep-spending their days instead in a frantic blur of e-mail and social media, not even realizing there's a better way.
In Deep Work, author and professor Cal Newport flips the narrative on impact in a connected age. Instead of arguing distraction is bad, he instead celebrates the power of its opposite. Dividing this book into two parts, he first makes the case that in almost any profession, cultivating a deep work ethic will produce massive benefits. He then presents a rigorous training regimen, presented as a series of four "rules," for transforming your mind and habits to support this skill.
A mix of cultural criticism and actionable advice, Deep Work takes the reader on a journey through memorable stories -- from Carl Jung building a stone tower in the woods to focus his mind, to a social media pioneer buying a round-trip business class ticket to Tokyo to write a book free from distraction in the air -- and no-nonsense advice, such as the claim that most serious professionals should quit social media and that you should practice being bored. Deep Work is an indispensable guide to anyone seeking focused success in a distracted world.
About Cal Newport
I’m a computer science professor at Georgetown University. In addition to my academic research, I write about the intersection of digital technology and culture. I’m particularly interested in our struggle to deploy these tools in ways that support instead of subvert the things we care about in both our personal and professional lives.
In my academic career, I specialize in the theory of distributed systems, which meansI spend more time proving theorems than compiling code. To date, I’ve published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers that have been cited more than 3,500 times.
I started blogging at calnewport.com soon after the publication of my second book, and have been posting here regularly ever since. The blog is named “Study Hacks” because when I started it I was primarily writing advice for students. I famously, however, have never had a social media account (it turns out that this is allowed).
I currently live with my wife and three sons in Takoma Park, Maryland, in a cool old Victorian house that has a study with a fireplace and a custom-built library table where I do my deep work.
Note: This video wasn't made by either Cal Newport or us at VitaKea, however it is a really nice and quick discussion on the book by the folk at Board Studios.
Praise for "Deep Work"
“As a presence on the page, Newport is exceptional in the realm of self-help authors.” —New York Times Book Review
“DEEP WORK accomplishes two considerable tasks: One is putting out a wealth of concrete practices for the ambitious, without relying on gauzy clichés. The second is that Mr. Newport resists the corporate groupthink of constant connectivity without seeming like a curmudgeon.” —Wall Street Journal
“Deep work is the killer app of the knowledge economy: it is only by concentrating intensely that you can master a difficult discipline or solve a demanding problem.” —The Economist
“What emerges most powerfully is the sense that it’s wrong to think of deep work as one more thing you’ve got to try to cram into your schedule. Truly committing to it, Newport suggests, transforms the rest of your time – so you’ll crank through shallow work faster, be more present in your home life, and eliminate time wasted switching between tasks. Depth, in short, isn’t at odds with a full life – it facilitates it. I’m persuaded.” —Oliver Burkeman, The Guardian
A Quick KeaLad Commentary on Deep Work
Quite simply, if you can read, I recommend this book to you... and it doesn't even talk about supplements! But I very much believe establishing practices for Deep Work will out-value any other biohacks or supplements when it comes to getting done what you actually want done. That big project that you can't seem to finish. Art. Writing. Even just thinking through a line of thought.
All the biology optimising tricks in the world is useless if that hard earned capacity is directed towards the wrong things. Like a Ferrari which has thousands of dollars of servicing every year, and the very best performance fuel. Only to drive at walking pace in bumper to bumper traffic. Implementing Deep Work practices will help you take your own hard earned performance engine to the open road to run free and at optimal potential. And of course, combining Deep Work strategies with things like careful diet, exercise and supplementation... there you have a recipe for long and deep sessions of mental flow that is both good fun, incredibly productive, and anti-burnout.
As far as reading experience goes, it would fit under casual and enjoyable but not a "light read". It's not a technical manual, but it will leave you with plenty to think on that would warrant focused reading... you could even say, deserving of a session of Deep Work session. As someone with an electrical engineering background, I also really appreciate the clean structuring of how Cal presented the book. First half covering the concept of Deep Work and value it provides, second half going over strategies to achieve deep work.
This is one of the books that I read once yearly (so far read twice, will begin again soon!) as a reminder to keep my priorities in order and a check on how I spend my days.
Right now, this is perhaps my highest recommended book in The VitaKea Store. We all want focus, this is a tried and true method and even gets better the more you practice it, as opposed to building a tolerance. Only downside is the need for self control haha!

A Quick KeaLad Commentary on The Rhodiola Revolution
The Rhodiola Revolution is actually a book we got in on recommendation from one of the good folk in the VitaKea community... and after having read it, I couldn't be more pleased.
The Rhodiola Revolution provides really interesting insight into the many applications of Rhodiola Rosea for supplementation. Given both authors work in a psychologist practice, they provide a great number of anecdotal case reports from their very own patients. They also provide a balanced viewpoint as well as the necessary caution you might expect from experienced medical practitioners.
Worth noting, the beginning few chapters can feel a little like the authors are promoting Rhodiola rosea as a cure all for all ailments. I encourage to continue on with an open mind, as the book progresses the picture does become much more balanced befitting to my commentary above. Also worth noting is the dietary recommendations which have dated notably, as is to be expected given The Rhodiola Revolution was published in 2004.
Each chapter is broken down into numerous small sections that make for light bedtime reading, the tone casual and easy to read. For anyone looking to learn more about Rhodiola Rosea, I enthusiastically advocate for this book. Potential side effects may include full blown Rhodiola obsession...

The Biohacking Manifesto
The scientific blueprint for a long, healthy and happy life using cutting edge anti-aging and neuroscience based hacks
What exactly is "biohacking"?
Biohacking is just a fancy word for optimizing your own biological potential, and in the context of this brand new book from James Lee (author of The Methuselah Project) it means achieving this via:
Slowing the process of cellular aging to extend longevity - Whether by reducing oxidative stress, activating sirtuins, preventing inflammation or by just simply connecting with those around you (Having rich social connections with those around you is one of the strongest predictors of long life);
Understanding your own neurochemistry to enable you to address any underlying issues or dysfunction involving neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine or even acetylcholine;
Utilising the latest "nootropic" brain-boosting supplements and drugs to optimise memory and cognitive function - Never heard of racetams, EGCG, sulbutiamine or modafinil? Not for long.
The Biohacking Manifesto is, at its heart, a compendium of Lee's previous books The Methuselah Project, Your Brain Electric and Brain Hacks. However rather than just cobble these together and slap on a new cover, he has headed back into the clinical trial papers and the latest research from cutting edge biotechs to discover some brand new exclusive material for this book.
The Biohacking Manifesto includes:
An exhaustive coverage of the latest supplements including - curcumin, astaxanthin and nicotinamide riboside (to name a few);
A comprehensive guide to the fundamentals of neurochemistry, including a range of options for boosting neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and acetylcholine;
An explanation of the various processes which underlie the aging process including - oxidative stress, inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction
Everything you need to know if you want to live to 100 and beyond
As a collected body of work, The Biohacking Manifesto gives you everything you need to know to enable you to put together a comprehensive strategy for living a long, happy and healthy life.
A Quick KeaLad Commentary on The Biohacking Manifesto
This read is still on my to-do list. Premise looks good, and hey, who doesn't want to know about how to age gracefully haha! :) I will update this section after I've given it a good study. :)

Why We Sleep
The New Science of Sleep and Dreams
“Why We Sleep is an important and fascinating book…Walker taught me a lot about this basic activity that every person on Earth needs. I suspect his book will do the same for you.” —Bill Gates
A New York Times bestseller and international sensation, this “stimulating and important book” (Financial Times) is a fascinating dive into the purpose and power of slumber.
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life—eating, drinking, and reproducing—the purpose of sleep remained elusive.
An explosion of scientific discoveries in the last twenty years has shed new light on this fundamental aspect of our lives. Now, preeminent neuroscientist and sleep expert Matthew Walker gives us a new understanding of the vital importance of sleep and dreaming. Within the brain, sleep enriches our ability to learn, memorize, and make logical decisions. It recalibrates our emotions, restocks our immune system, fine-tunes our metabolism, and regulates our appetite. Dreaming mollifies painful memories and creates a virtual reality space in which the brain melds past and present knowledge to inspire creativity.
In Why We Sleep, Walker answers important questions about:
How do caffeine and alcohol affect sleep?
What really happens during REM sleep?
Why do our sleep patterns change across a lifetime?
How do common sleep aids affect us and can they do long-term damage?
Charting cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs, and synthesizing decades of research and clinical practice, Walker explains how we can harness sleep to improve learning, mood, and energy levels; regulate hormones; prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes; slow the effects of aging; increase longevity; enhance the education and lifespan of our children, and boost the efficiency, success, and productivity of our businesses. Clear-eyed, fascinating, and accessible, Why We Sleep is a crucial and illuminating book.
About Matthew Walker, PhD
Dr. Walker earned his degree in neuroscience from Nottingham University, UK, and his PhD in neurophysiology from the Medical Research Council, London, UK. He subsequently became a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, USA.
His research examines the impact of sleep on human brain function in healthy and disease populations. To date, he has published over 100 scientific research studies.
A Quick KeaLad Commentary on Lifespan
I'm currently in the middle of reading Why We Sleep so chat will be coming soon. However if you've seen or heard some of Matthew Walkers interviews or talks, you'll understand why this read is a good one to prioritise. One good one, his interview on the Joe Rogan podcast is here for you curious folk. For something a bit more short and sweet, check out his Ted Talk above.

Daniel J.Levitin, PhD
A Neuroscientist Explores the Power and Potential of Our Lives
"Debunks the idea that aging inevitably brings infirmity and unhappiness and instead offers a trove of practical, evidence-based guidance for living longer and better." —Daniel H. Pink, author of When and Drive
SUCCESSFUL AGING delivers insights on: • Debunking the myth that memory always declines with age; • Confirming that "health span"—not "life span"—is what matters; • Proving that sixty-plus years is a unique and newly recognized developmental stage; • Recommending that people look forward to joy, as reminiscing doesn't promote health.
Levitin looks at the science behind what we all can learn from those who age joyously, as well as how to adapt our culture to take full advantage of older people's wisdom and experience. Throughout his exploration of what aging really means, using research from developmental neuroscience and the psychology of individual differences, Levitin reveals resilience strategies and practical, cognitive enhancing tricks everyone should do as they age.
Successful Aging inspires a powerful new approach to how readers think about our final decades, and it will revolutionize the way we plan for old age as individuals, family members, and citizens within a society where the average life expectancy continues to rise.
About Dr. Daniel J.Levitin
Daniel J. Levitin, PhD, is a neuroscientist, cognitive psychologist, and bestselling author.
He is Founding Dean of Arts & Humanities at the Minerva Schools at KGI in San Francisco, and Professor Emeritus of psychology and neuroscience at McGill University.
He is the author of This Is Your Brain on Music, The World in Six Songs, The Organized Mind, A Field Guide to Lies, and Successful Aging. He divides his time between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
This read is still on my to-do list, but I will be getting to it shortly and can comment more then. Key reasons this book stood out to get in store was (obviously) the interest in the aging process and how we can augment it. I expect the insight provided will be most interesting to those of us into nootropics and biohacking especially given Daniel (the author) has a neuroscience background... so in theory he should know his stuff to a much more trustworthy degree than the latest journalist trying to jump in on the biohacking trend. More chat coming once I've given it a read!
